A new section of this blog will be the Brain Farts. A section dedicated to CCNA knowledge we should have memorized for the test.
The CCNA will require you to memorize a lot of information. Some of the most basic, fundamental numbers you should have implanted in your brain are all the possible valid network numbers.
Why?
Not only for the test but also in the real world. It would be very embarrassing, during an interview, to be asked what valid network numbers are in a Class B address space.
Uhh, umm, err, Can I look at my notes?
So to help me and you for the CCNA certification test and for real world scenario I have added this table:
Valid Network Numbers
| Class | Octet Range | Valid Network Numbers | Number of Networks | Number of Hosts/Network |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A | 1 - 126 | 1.0.0.0 - 126.0.0.0 | 126 | 16,777,214 |
| B | 128 - 191 | 128.0.0.0 - 191.255.0.0 | 16,384 | 65,534 |
| C | 192 - 223 | 192.0.0.0 - 223.255.255.0 | 2,097,152 | 254 |
