Ubuntu Notification System Tray Gone

The great thing about using Ubuntu is the customization. I didn’t like having my taskbar at the top of my screen so I brought it towards the bottom and extended the taskbar across my dual screen monitors.

Doing this enabled me to add more icons and view my processor and memory usage. After doing this I had lost my system tray notification panel. The Ubuntu system tray notification panel allows you to minimize certain applications without having it take up large real estate on the taskbar.

To enable the system tray notification panel:

1. Right click on the taskbar
2. Click ‘Add to Panel’
3. Search for ‘Notification’
4. Click on ‘Notification Area’
5. Click Add
6. You’re Done!

You’ll now see your system tray notification panel on your task bar.
